At The Body Work Clinic, we know all there is to know about skin and body sculpting techniques. That’s why we can confirm that EMSculpt is not too good to be true. It’s real!

A non-surgical treatment that burns fat fast, and builds muscle with no downtime and no nasty needles? We get why you might be sceptical, but you’d better start believing.

In fact, it’s one of the fastest and easiest ways to build muscle while simultaneously burning fat. You only have to look at the before and after pictures to see how amazing this treatment truly is.

Still, we like to tell it like it is; to understand the true awesomeness of EMSculpt, you have to understand it. So here goes…

What is EMSculpt?

EMSculpt works by contracting 100% of the muscle fibres on the targeted area (the scientific term for these is myofibrils). If you’re wondering how this is different from an hour at the gym, then consider this; an amateur athlete can usually voluntarily contract maybe 40% of their muscle fibres, at most. Maybe 55% for a serious professional.

But most of us aren’t quite Olympians yet (we wish).

When the EMSculpt uses its High Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic Technology (that’s HIFEM, for short) to contract your muscles, that’s a significant increase on what you’re capable of doing alone.

Far more intense than the most intense workout of your life, in fact.

As for the fat burning part of EMSculpt, that comes next. Increasing your muscle mass leads to your body’s fat metabolism improving, and that enhancement means fat burning. Which is what makes the technology different from say, CoolSculpting.

You can use EMSculpt in various places across the body such as the abs, thighs, tummy, arms and buttocks. Your practitioner will tailor your treatment to make sure you’re going to see the results you want, and you’ll start to notice results after around four sessions.

And just because we like to share these tidbits, one thirty-minute session is around the equivalent of 20,000 sit ups or squats. Not bad, eh?

EMSculpt Results

Understandably, contracting 100% of your muscle fibres will help you tone up muscle mass and cut right through fat. And it’s going to do it significantly faster and more effectively than a personal trainer barking in your ear.

Most patients start to see visible results around 4-6 weeks after their EMSculpt treatment, with the really significant (subjective, we know) changes becoming most noticeable after 6 months.

On average, the resulting muscle mass from your procedure (built up over 4 sessions) will last for around 6 months. That said, it can stick around longer. Especially if you’re actively training to maintain it.

A study in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology reported that of the patients involved; 85%  not only confirmed a significant improvement in the shape, life and tightness of their buttocks (this study was bum-centric), they also reported a serious boost in their self-confidence. Which is hard to argue with.

Maximising Your EMSculpt Results

We all know that building muscle and maintaining muscle aren’t the same thing. So, of course, you’ll have to put in some work yourself even after your EMSculpt treatments. We think it’s worth it though.

The most important thing you can do to maintain visible results is champion a healthy, well-balanced diet. That means lots of nutrients and cut back on the saturated fat. It also helps to drink plenty (water, not wine) and keep your body hydrated. This will help to flush away fat cells.

Exercising is, of course, kind of crucial. Cardio and muscle-building exercises will both help to strengthen your body and maintain the results of your EMSculpt treatments.

Does EMSculpt Have Side Effects?

Have you ever been to the gym and really gone for it? Pushed yourself to the limit and then some? That’s sort of like what happens after an EMSculpt session.

The HIFEM technology puts your body through its paces, there’s no doubt about it. But it’s not any worse than an incredibly intense workout.

As we mentioned before, 20k squats or sit ups is going to make you a little sore, but you won’t suffer with DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) like you might after going to the gym. That’s because EMSculpt doesn’t rip your muscles to build them, the way that weight lifting does.

There will be some tenderness for a few days, though; feel free to take this time to kick back and relax. If you’re too much of a gym bunny to manage that, don’t worry. You can get back to normal activities as soon as you like, even if that happens to be immediately.

Luckily, there’s a balm for your soreness. Not a literal one, but you’ll see results almost immediately after your treatment, though they won’t be as visible as after the 6-week mark just yet.

And we have to admit, seeing rapid results like that definitely takes the edge off the ache!
