Can all areas of the body be treated and does skin colour make a difference?
RF energy is a colour blind technology and hence any skin type is suitable for treatment. Most clients with loose or lax skin or unwanted small pockets of stubborn fat are ideal candidates for Exilis. It should however be noted that RF energy cannot be applied to clients with pacemakers, metal plates or pins in the treatment area. Treatment is also contraindicated in clients with severe heart disease, diseases of connective and muscular tissue or pregnant and breast feeding women.
How long does it take and does it hurt?
The procedure is pain free and the client usually experiences a relaxing gentle heating sensation during the treatment (like a hot stone massage) Normal activities can be resumed immediately. The duration of the procedure normally depends on the size of the area being treated. Treatment times range from 20 minutes up to one hour or more for extensive body areas.
Are there any side effects?
You may notice some pinkness or redness to the skin (erythema) immediately following the treatment but this typically subsides within 15-30 minutes. The skin may be slightly tender to the touch for a short time following the procedure. Very rare risks reported include numbness, swelling (oedema), blistering, scarring, allergic reactions and nausea.
How many treatments are needed?
Four treatments at weekly intervals are usually recommended for the face and body although more treatments can be administered if required.
Results are usually seen within two to three months but skin will continue to improve for up to six months. Maintenance treatment may be required.
Smoking cessation and the application of a moisturiser with an SPF30 sun block is recommended to enhance the longevity of the treatment.
